That remark sounds flippant but it should be taken in context of what he said just before that ("I think it's diverting people from serious issues&quot and what he said right after ("If there was some reason to believe it was a high-level conspiracy, it might be interesting, but...&quot . Regardless, that opinion doesn't make him a "gatekeeper." There aren't many prominent intellectuals who are as anti-authoritarian as Chomsky.
