High Court's New Ruling: The Sum of All Fears for Netanyahu Family

Two days after blocking the abolition of the reasonableness standard, Israel's top court also quashed the law meant to deprive the AG of the legal option of declaring the prime minister unfit for office. At least for the duration of the war, Netanyahu's planned putsch against Israeli democracy has been stopped thanks to the liberal majority on the bench

The High Court of Justice on Wednesday erased – again by a single-vote majority – yet another stain in the Israeli lawbooks, this one called the Incapacitation Law, or, alternatively, the "Netanyahu-family victim complex law."
The liberal-activist majority on the bench, headed by outgoing court President Esther Hayut, which earlier this week struck down the abolition of the reasonableness standard, stated in simple words, understandable to any reasonably literate person, that this amendment born in sin, in haste, even in sloppiness, was meant for no other purpose but to serve the political and personal interests of one man, who is also a criminal defendant.

To that end, nothing less than a legal act of obscenity was committed upon the Basic Law on the Government. The legislators, in their smugness, didn't even hide their motives when they ran the legislation through the Knesset last March: To deprive Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara of the legal option of declaring the prime minister incapacitated, or unfit for office, due to his repeated, defiant violations of the conflict of interest agreement he signed.
Netanyahu himself appeared before the cameras immediately following the law's passage, announcing, free and clear: "I'm getting into this thing," referring to the Knesset talks over the judicial coup.

Other than putting "Personal" in the law's title, the coalition members, headed by the subject of the law himself, did everything to expose themselves in public.
