(1,441 posts)16. Didn't Sisi deny making the offer?
There was certainly a lot of fog surrounding the episode.
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday denied reports that he had offered to establish a Palestinian state in the Sinai Peninsula, the website of Egypts Al-Ahram newspaper reported.
In a speech to mark national teachers' day and which mostly dealt with education, Sisi stressed that no one can make such promises and that there is no room for talk about the matter.

The Palestinian Authority and Egypt on Monday strongly denied a report that claimed that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had offered PA President Mahmoud Abbas land in Sinai for a Palestinian state.

Probably, but it's an interesting idea. That proposal would eliminate the need....
