NOT that this is a cause, but when people who wanna lead low-impact lives learn how much food & water & energy are used by the meat industry, and also how much waste is created that's never dealt with, then they want to cut back on the amount of it they consume.

When I first went veg years ago it was all for the animals, but I've learned the real effect is the hunk it takes from my consumption.
