2. I had a hand operated desalinator

It was on a sailboat I used to own. It used a reverse osmosis system that required a lot of elbow grease and frequent filter changes. Still, it converted salty seawater into potable water. It was a lot of trouble, though.

If you get a desalinator. be sure its electric!
