Besides most consultants I know have their PE, which I don't. I'm not opposed to doing consulting, but just really have doubts about being able to hook up with people who needed my experience (I've mostly done industrial control systems).
I've done contract engineering before for several years and have been looking for a contract gig which fits my experience, so far I just haven't been able to find one that's anywhere close to where I live.
