I'm in Chicago, where they privatized the parking meters, and we all pay a fortune to a private corporation, instead of contributing to the City's coffers (thanks to Richie Daley). Now, even the disabled (thanks to Rahm Emanuel), who used to be able to park for free, have to get out of their car, walk to the corner, put their credit card into a machine for a ticket, return to their car, open the passenger-side door and place the ticket on the dashboard. All of this in three feet of snow, by the way. The politicians have become as heartless as the corporations.
