13. I was thinking today of all the little Mandelas

out there in the world who don‘t get to reach their full potential. And what the world loses and has lost because of poverty. Brilliant leaders end up farming often. There is nothing wrong with farming. My grandmother was a farmer. But thank god Mandela somehow found his voice while under that awful system. And I see today someone who I would vote for if she ran in a Canadian election, but because of the limited opportunities where she was born, and being an immigrant, she works as a health care aide. Which is a wonderful calling. Much more challenging than anything I could take on. What luck my parents have to have incredible people looking after them. But what a loss that this greatness is spread very local. The question Mandela answers is ‘how do you bottle that?' So as many people as possible go the way of love. You bottle it by encouraging politics to be a place where great people can and will want to be.
