Labour takes Witney and Chipping Norton seats from the Conservatives [View all]

Not a headline that's being very publicized, what with the media's chosen 'Labour is FINISHED! Tories rule forever!' narrative. But that is exactly what happened on Oxfordshire County Council. Hartlepool-in-reverse, one could call it.

Until a few years ago, Tories had a firm majority on the County Council; then it went NOC, but just barely. Now, having lost 9 seats including that of the Council leader, they have 22 seats out of 63, just ahead of the LibDems' 21; Labour have 15; Greens 3; Henley Residents 1; Independents 1. One seat is still being challenged, so it could even end up as Tories 21, Labour 16.
