So Hovde why not run in California buddy? Minnesota, IOwa, and WI have the most of Norwegian Hovde ancestry, with very few in the other 47 states.

Hvode means 'up to higher ground'. You never find a Hovde farm in the bottom of a valley. In old Norwegian, høfdi, then hofdi, from around 1850 and then hovde came in use. On some islands they speak old Norwegian and of use høfdi.
