2. We were in Garden City Beach, SC one September

walking on the pier one night just chatting with the fishermen. One of them had caught (oh dear!) a baby octopus and was trying to gently disentangle it from his line. He'd get one or two arms free but the little guy would cling on with the others all the harder. Finally he just cut the line, saying, "They're smart. He'll figure out how to get loose. I just hope he's not hurt too much." And he dropped the little creature back in the water. He said that wasn't the first time he'd caught one but the fist time he'd caught one that close to shore.
