Pennsylvania man arrested in Capitol insurrection after mom outs him on social media [View all]
The mother of Russell James Peterson shared on Facebook that her son stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 and sat in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's chair.
One of her friends went to the FBI with that information. By that time, Peterson of Rochester, Pennsylvania, had already been identified by the FBI from livestreams he posted to social media of his venture inside the Capitol that day, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Along with those videos, the FBI has photos of Peterson, his mother and his wife in Washington, D.C., on the day of the pro-Trump rally that preceded the insurrection.
Russell Peterson was arrested on Feb. 12 on four charges: knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct which impedes the conduct of government business; disruptive conduct in the Capitol buildings; parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol buildings.
