Nike and its senior management on Wednesday said they will give more than $15 million to coronavirus relief efforts.
"In light of the unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak impacting our teammates, friends and family, we are coming together to support communities where our employees live and work," the company said in a statement.
Nike co-founder Phil Knight and wife Penny Knight, Executive Chairman Mark Parker and wife Kathy and CEO John Donahoe and wife Eileen will personally give $10 million, including $1 million to the Oregon Food Bank, $2 million to the Oregon Community Foundation Recovery Fund created by the Oregon Community Foundation and $7 million to Oregon Health & Science University.
"We are operating in unprecedented times, and I would like to express my deep gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Knight, and the leaders at Nike, for greatly augmenting OHSU's ability to better serve the people of Oregon during this global health crisis," said OHSU President Danny Jacobs, in a news release. "People across the state have come together to face this challenge collaboratively, and this support will have a profound impact on our ability to meet it."
