8. The roads in my town in Essex County

were all impassible last night. Luckily our house was OK, but others in my town needed to spend the night in our Community Center that was converted into a shelter. I also have a property in New Brunswick that got water in the basement. The Raritan River covered parts of Routes 18. Between lane and road closings, it took me 2 1/2 hours to get there - the typical time is 50 minutes. Every way I turned, roads were closed because of wash-outs.
