Lawsuit asks judge to kick Lt. Gov. Michelle Fischbach out of her MN Senate seat [View all]

A lawsuit filed Friday seeks to oust Lt. Gov. Michelle Fischbach (R) from her state Senate seat.

The lawsuit, filed in Ramsey County District Court by a Democrat from Fischbach’s Senate district, is the logical next stage of an ongoing disagreement between some Republicans and Democrats stemming from the resignation of U.S. Sen. Al Franken amid allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior.

Fischbach became lieutenant governor after Tina Smith resigned to replace Franken. Gov. Mark Dayton appointed Smith.

Fischbach became lieutenant governor because she was the president of the state Senate.
