A top Democrat has called on Gov. Paul LePage to resign over the profanity-laced and threatening voicemail he left a day earlier for a state representative from Westbrook.
Rep. Sara Gideon, the assistant House Democratic Leader, said Friday that members of her party from across the state strongly and regretfully feel he is unfit to serve as governor right now.
Gideon said if LePage is not willing to step down, she believes leading Republicans should stage a political intervention to get the governor, the help he needs.
Its clear there is behavior here that is not normal, she said.
