Group: Kansas Senator Tampered With Mail [View all]
Terri Huntington Accused Of Trying To Access Post Office Box
A Kansas political group has accused a state senator from Johnson County of tampering with its mail.
The group, which wants to eliminate the Kansas state income tax, said State Sen. Terri Huntington tried to get into its post office box without permission.
Huntington, a moderate Republican, is one of several state senators who are the targets of direct mail campaign from Kansans For No Income Tax. The group has mailed flyers to voters in Huntington's district, urging them to tell her to support doing away with the tax.
The group included its return address on the flyers and said it expected lots of responses. When the group's treasurer, Rebecca Mank, went to collect the mail one day, she said she found nothing.

"The group misrepresented its intent, making Kansans think they were contacting their state senator, when in reality, the group was building its own database with my constituents' information," Huntington told Mahoney in an email.
