Molester of girls gets no prison time in plea deal [View all]
A Fort Wayne man accused of having sex with two girls – one who “functions at a 7-year-old level,” according to court documents – will spend no time in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Steven R. Wells, 49, had faced more than a dozen felony charges, including child molesting and sexual misconduct with a minor. He pleaded guilty Friday in Allen Superior Court to two counts of child molesting.
Judge Fran Gull sentenced him to a three-year suspended prison sentence and ordered him to spend four years on probation. The sentence was outlined in an October agreement Wells reached with prosecutors.
He was also ordered not to contact the girls.
Eleven other charges were dismissed, court records said.
