Bruce Rauner, after being turned down by several more accomplished suburban women, settled on little known first-term Wheaton Councilwoman Evelyn Pacino Sanguinetti. After a brief campaign rollout augmented by a couple of slick videos (one English. one Spanish) this web site broke the hugely damaging story about Sanguinetti’s multi-count lawsuit against her own community and other governmental bodies over her slip and fall on a walk to the train station. Once that information became public it was too late for Rauner to dump her from the ticket and admit he made the wrong choice.
