Mysterious packages washing up in Florida could be 'extremely harmful,' cops say [View all]

A beachgoer in the Panhandle found 25 such packages last weekend, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

Beachgoers along the Florida Panhandle are being warned not to touch “suspicious packages” they see rolling out of the water.

Last Sunday, a beach visitor in Walton County found 25 such packages, and closer inspection revealed they were bricks of cocaine worth approximately $500,000, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office said.

A photo shared by the agency on social media shows the packages were vacuum-packed and sported images of the cartoon outlaw Yosemite Sam.

The bricks were confiscated by the sheriff’s office and “logged into evidence,” officials said.
