Governor: New COVID guidelines for churches [View all]

Gov. Asa Hutchinson issued new guidance for Arkansas churches Tuesday in the wake of a surge of COVID-19 cases.

The updated church and worship guidelines state that masks should be worn at all times except those exempted under existing Arkansas Department of Health guidelines.

A strict 6-foot social distancing rule should apply to everyone except family groups at both indoor and outdoor church services going forward, the governor said. Seating in church sanctuaries should also follow this rule, he said.

The updated guidelines also mention "unmasked congregational singing" as the "primary driver of transmissions." However, no new guidelines were issued Tuesday regarding singing and the use of facemasks.
