Arizona's Lowell Observatory crowned best science museum in the country [View all]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — In 1894, Lowell Observatory began exploring the stars, almost 20 years before Arizona became a state.

The museum gets over 100,000 visitors per year and was named the best science museum in the country by Newsweek and one of the world’s best 100 places by Time Magazine.

Lowell Observatory historian Kevin Schindler celebrates 30 years this month.

“I’ve been here a long time because I love the place,” Schindler said.

He’s seen a lot of change in three decades, but Lowell’s legacy runs deeper, and the recent awards highlight that.
