for help from somewhere inside the park. This was before cellphones and I had no idea where the shrieks were coming from, so looked around for a few minutes and they stopped. Called it in when I got home (no payphones there, either)

Checked the news next day and no news of attacks in the park, so it didn't apparently end in tragedy.
