14. I had a friend of a friend who was also convinced his cats never did that.

He also thought it was a good idea to keep butter out so it would stay soft. He said when he traveled to India that's how they did it, and it was fine.

One day I walked into the kitchen and found a cat with her little face in the butter dish, licking away. I shooed her away but didn't tell him. Wherever he is, he probably still has a cat somewhere, who knows better than to jump on the counters when he's in the kitchen . . . .
