You're not portrayed as unkempt, wearing a bathrobe, and your house smelling like piss. Do a google image search for 'crazy cat lady' and then do one for 'crazy dog lady.' The dog ladies are fully dressed.

(That said, I've been in more dog people's homes smelling like piss than cat people's. The cat will piss/shit in a box, the dog just goes on the floor.)
