2. I remember reading leaked elements of this agreement well over a year ago.

It feels like two years, actually, but I know it was a long, long time ago. The first info that was leaked was the part about the global tribunal presided over by judges chosen from the ranks of corporate lawyers, a tribunal that would decide lawsuits brought by corporations against any signatory nation that passed regulations that would impede corporate profit in any way. Increasing "corporate sovereignty" means undermining national sovereignty. That is what is really going on, the continued progress of global corporate power to castrate nations. What will the role of nations be in the future? Probably to control their populations (military, police) and that's about it. The Obama quotes coming out of Germany are creepy in the extreme. I don't know how he lives with himself. There is an article by Peter Koenig on Global Research right now in which Koenig maintains that Obama was called by corporate elites to a meeting during his run for president in 2008. It was there that he agreed to push TPP and TTIP in exchange for huge infusions of money into his campaign. Is it true? Who knows. I do know that as soon as I read the initial leaks about the TPP, my first thought was that this was a major mission for his presidency from day one. That it isn't going to be ratified before the end of his second term is a bit strange. I wonder if he put it off so he wouldn't have to take responsibility for it or, perhaps, even, that he hopes the next president will refuse to sign off on it?
