In reply to the discussion: Woman's death in police custody ruled a homicide [View all]Feral Child
(2,086 posts)How 'Fair & Balanced" of you. But, more on that later.
For now, I'd like to return to your little misstep: "Negative" as a response to a statement is as rare in public parlance as virginity (of either gender) surviving Prom Night.
It is, however, so common amongst policemen as to be jargonistic. Now, I hate a cliche nearly as much as I detest the intrusion of a greedy, grasping Republic in polite company, still, your use of jargon is positively Freudian in its glaring obviousness.
Are you, perhaps, a police man here in the vain attempt to rescue the reputation of your fellow Peace Officers with tired old "logic"? Repetitively, redundantly I have to remark that I'm fascinated.
As to your deflection, try to be a bit more honest. The role of "Class Warrior" denouncing the wealthy rings hollow from you.
The white middle class are given considerable leeway from the police when they have their "nervous breakdown" episodes and shoot up the neighborhood. They're a protected class, so they're gently taken into custody, even when they are a threat to the police themselves, and are transferred to a mental health clinic paid for by their insurance. Poc aren't afforded that courtesy. It's assumed by the police that they're dangerous animals, to be executed without trial or forcibly subdued. Per my examples contrasting the death whilst in custody of this black woman and the escort they provided to the nice white lady, refusing to return fire even when her dangerous escapade left her neighborhood and proceeded down the highway like a bullet-spewing parade.
I've given concrete examples of the disparity, you dismiss them with a specious condemnation of the rich, perhaps because you think it makes you look "progressive". It doesn't. It's as realistic as the Commedia dellarte.
Reminiscent of Scaramuccia, or more properly, Il Capitano.
Now, back to that Cautionary Edit: Clearly you've been too fixated on remembering your talking points and delivering them in a "Fair & Balanced" fashion to understand the workings of the progressive site. "MIRT" is the Malicious Intruder Removal Team. Their aegis is restricted to the clumsy and crude Intruders that burst their way in here, with figurative six-guns blazing outre Conservative Crap in all directions in their puerile need to be heard. They generally restrict themselves to low post-count moronic 'Wingers, many of them bristling with recidivism. I've survived their initial appraisal because my posts, though sometimes a bit acidic when directed at non-progressive POVs, are genuinely progressive and quite reasoned when exchanging progressive values with my fellow DUers. No, I have little to fear from MIRT.
Trolls, on the other hand, are a different demon entirely. They must, in order to survive, be judicious in the use of the poisoned pen, lest they be short-lived disruptors that join the ranks of the Malicious Intruder. They pretend, in an oh-so "Fair & Balanced" way, to be reasonable cautionary folk interested in Opposing Viewpoints. Ironically, they have to be so discrete they fail to get their misguided message across. It's a quandary: if they're too obvious they get banned, if they're too cautious they merely waste their energies.
I could be vulnerable to serial-Alerts from these people, but there's danger to a troll in that approach. All Alerts are reviewed by Admin, and they don't just look for the verbose and abrasive. No, they also look for frivolous alerts because they've been dealing with Republican trolls for years.
Thus, I would myself caution any trolls that might consider Alert Attacks that they risk disclosing themselves, becoming visible and noticed with that tactic.
If your sensibilities are miffed by that which you call "personal attacks" but others might consider honest appraisal then feel free to Alert. You might get lucky and an empaneled jury might include police-apologists and those who make excuses for Institutionalized Racism in the American "Justice System". Such might find silencing my criticisms to be beneficial to them and would therefore nullify the virtue of our jury system.
At any rate, it won't change my life substantially. If Admin decides I'm too enthusiastic, they might give me a "time out" or even ban me, in which case I'd go bake some cookies, or pet one of my cats, or write some poetry. The threat of Banishment only frighten trolls, because they have nothing left but slinking back to their dank and foetid lairs, to the amusement and ridicule of the other conservative denizens.
So, do what you feel compelled to do. Your threat disguised as concern and caution isn't all that scary.
