7. What I thought From the Very Beginning

From the very beginning I thought this talk of mass deportation and anger towards undocumented immigrants was all about making up for the money private prison owners were losing to prison and criminal justice reform. I watched the documentary 13th, which is about the clause in the 13th Amendment that bans slavery unless in the case of a person sent to prison. As I watched the documentary, it began to dawn on me that the private prison owners were going to try to find a new source of income since prison and criminal justice reform were cutting into their profits. I started thinking that private prison owners were going to turn to undocumented immigrants as a way to make up for the loses due to having to release some prisoners. The documentary later confirmed that undocumented immigrants were going to be used as a way to make up for profit losses due to prison and criminal justice reform. This whole thing was always about making money.
