14. The words "convicted of homicide" have me confused.

In the USA, homicide is defined as simply one human being ending the life of another human being. Homicide is not necessarily a crime. It would include self defense, being adjudicated as insane at the time of the incident, many different degrees of murder or manslaughter with or without weapons and depending on the presence of malice or intent. There's more here than meets the eye.

Many people easily make the jump from homicide to murder in their minds without these other considerations.
