Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and Rep Chip Roy (R-TX) are co-sponsoring legislation to "reform" the U.S. civil service system, by granting supervisors the authority to terminate employees at will. H.R. 3115 / S. 1496 specifically states that any federal government employee can be terminated not only for cause, but for no cause at all. If enacted, it could be a lead-in to removing tens of thousands of non-political civil servants in order to replace them with MAGA lackeys. It is considered DOA at the moment, but a Trump victory coupled with GOP control of both houses of Congress would likely push the bill forward.
