After the country had enough of Bush, and before the AstroTurf tea party came on the national scene with the help of big money interests, there were news commentators saying that the “Republican brand” had been permanently damaged. We cannot underestimate the power of big money, Fox News and a significant number bigots, religious fanatics and gun nuts to be held captive by the Republican propaganda machine.
