I did read that the judge who jailed her for contempt only responded to this by saying that he would leave it up to the couples to worry about whether their marriage licenses are valid or not.

I doubt that anyone who gets married with the license issued by the deputies will ever have the legality of their marriage questioned, even if it is technically illegal.
