(505 posts)I'm from one of the other countries, and I've criticized a lot of things about the US lately. I've criticized some things in the past, too (e.g. death penalty, elected judges, insansely long sentences, extreme religiosity, missing social safety net, police violence, etc.).
But that's NOT about you, or "us" from your POV. I know the internet, so I know a lot of US citizens, and I know there are a lot of great US citizens. And there are lots of great things about the country, too. You can be proud of those things and you should be proud! I still remember the pre-Trump era and I am confident that greatness will return.
Remember when someone criticizes the US today, it's probably because of Trump and the Republicans (Reputin-cans?). And the lovely people who voted Trump into office and are still proud of it. I don't understand how a human being can be that dumb. Maybe US schools are already very bad, and I fear for the worst now that Betsy takes care of them. Hopefully the failing Trump administration will teach some voters an important lesson.
