101. Rand Paul is criticizing both parties FROM THE RIGHT, people!

That's his whole shtick, in a nutshell. He doesn't think the current political, economic, and social systems of the United States are going far enough in their cruel, exploitative, inhumane treatment of (most) people and their families. He thinks corporations should have more power, and that the federal government (notice how he never says anything about the state governments!) ) not only should withdraw from the international community (which would be a disaster for not just America, but the rest of the world as well), but also, ought to end any and all of its social welfare programs-he literally wants to go back to the Gilded Age, if not earlier.

Just because he wants to decriminalize weed or he criticizes Obama on metadata doesn't make him a progressive. It just makes him a cynical politician, marketing himself as a "hip" Republican while actually promoting extreme right-wing policies.
