Thom Hartmann discussed this the other day. He pointed out that when he was at Air America, he learned that there are corporate "blacklists" of networks or shows on which certain companies would not advertise. There were several that would not advertise on right-wing talk radio. Another list wouldn't advertise on left-wing talk radio. And, some would not advertise on talk radio at all. They just don't want to risk the potential for controversy. I wonder how much that "no-talk radio" list will grow because of this.

Thom's suggestion to all of this was, rather than call/boycott sponsors, one should call their local radio station and ask them to take the show off the air. Apparently, that's how the two stations that dropped Limbaugh made that decision. Boycotting or complaining to sponsors could backfire. They could just decide not to advertise on talk radio at all, which would hurt people like Thom, Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes and Ed Schultz, who have many of the same sponsors Limbaugh had/has.
