The media consortium that analyzed the Florida ballots buried the fact that had a statewide recount had been done of all legal ballots where the intent of the voter could be determined Gore would have carried it.

The part that was given the headlines was that in the limited recounts that Gore requested, Bush still came out ahead.

The decision by the USSC in Bush v Gore effectively cut off a potential decision by the Florida Supreme Court for a full statewide recount.

Since this came just a few months after 9/11, persons in the "liberal" media didn't want to put W's "legitimacy" into question, for the good of the country, of course.
