7. Many news and opinion videos were fake before AI.

Remember the lead-up to the deadly assault on Iraq after September 11, 2001?

It was a flood of bullshit. That's when I turned off video news and opinion permanently.

There's something about video that bypasses the human mind's bullshit detectors. That's how Trump has such a large audience, and it's not just the people who voted for him. The press could have shut him out, but they turned him into entertainment. The television news and opinion people need something to fill the void. ( That includes people like Rachel Maddow. Sorry. )

The sad thing is we already knew how that turns out, Ronald Reagan wasn't any different. I remember being at a public appearance of Reagan during his second term. He was a confused old man being pushed around by his handlers. When the lights came on his acting skills kicked in and he was able to fire off a few seconds for television. He quickly faded and was led away. The scary part of this was that none of that was mentioned on television. He was portrayed as the fearless leader. Television did not reflect reality.

I block all news and opinion videos here on DU. I don't even see the previews. I never watch television news or opinion. The television in our house isn't even set up to receive it.

It's noise, AI generated or not.
