(293 posts)No one pays, because like so many other things in Trump world, they are calling this something it isn't. This isn't a "buy out". No one is being offered a payment to leave. If they accept this offer, they agree to resign at the end of the fiscal year, in return they would be allowed to continue to work remotely until then at the same pay and benefits level they are at now, no extra incentives at all.* Plus, since they will be quitting instead of being fired, no unemployment.
* One post on bsky said there is a clause in the agreement that says the gov can move up the effective date of the resignation at their option. You could accept this offer this week and find yourself unemployed next week! How very generous of Leon Muskrat to offer this incredible plan.
