35. Years ago, when scanning votes was new, humbolt county did a transparency project

When they scanned the ballots they recorded the images put them in a pdf and opened them to anyone who wanted to check them.

For the most part the ballots were counted correctly until the end , an entire category had been left off, I assume someone forgot to prepare a column for that category. It was something like the early votes got reported but the absentee ballots didn’t get reported.

It’s been a long time ago but I remember it as 167 ballots missed in the reporting. When Georgia was recounted by hand basically the same thing happened only it was thousands.

Kathy something in Wisconsin pulled a variation on that by supposedly losing an entire city’s vote count ( sc kloppenberg election) and then finding it on her personal laptop two days after the results had been announced. Whoops she said, winner changed from the independent to the republican.

Maybe missing those votes were mistakes but they wouldn’t happen with hand counting
