Some women on the pill just don't take the three placebo days. From memory, you can do this for the better part of a year and get down to just one or two periods a year. I think there's a birth control implant you can use but it might have some side effects (bloating, spotting, etc).

There might have been advances since the last time I looked at it but my impression was that we were not miles off from having good options for period elimination for people that wanted it.
