... in the 80's as he talked about "welfare queens", and how everyone would receive higher pay and benefits if only the poor corporations didn't have to (supposedly) pay such high taxes to support them.

Even after observing it apparently resonate with my unhappy, angry and poor white coworkers inside a factory that was an actual sweatshop (with a hot oven area where employees sometimes fainted), who were listening to him on a portable radio during lunch break, I still didn't take it seriously. I was working there as a temp and thought, "Well, these guys are probably among the dumbest 5% in the general population anyway. That Limbaugh fool will disappear soon."
