IF---there was ever any doubt that Mitch McConnell and his band of fascist white collar [View all]

thugs are unAmerican anti-democracy traitors, that doubt evaporated this afternoon as McConnell pretended to justify his vote of "not guilty" because-----Trump is now a FORMER president and, therefore, lied Mitch, a conviction would have been "unconstitutional".

Take a few seconds and let the enormous brazen hypocrisy and falsity of that sink in!

First, what he just said is the equivalent of completely disregarding a final decision of the US Supreme Court. By specific provision of the Constitution, the SENATE determines whether, how and under what terms and rules the Senate tries impeachments. They did that. By a clear majority, they rejected the idea that their authority to conduct the impeachment trial evaporated the instant Trump's term ended. That finally determined the issue. There is no higher authority that is empowered to even review, let alone reverse, the decision of the Senate made by majority vote. But, still, Mitch McConnell---knowing very well that what I just said is true---ignored it and pretended to have reluctantly obeyed the Constitution and voted to permit a thoroughly guilty criminal to escape conviction.

And, then, as though the above was not enough to thoroughly disgust you with Mitch and his immoral party, recall please that DEMOCRATS TRIED to start this trial while Trump was still in office and---McCONNELL PREVENTED IT during his last few days as Republican majority leader! So," No, you can't try a Republican POTUS in January of his last year in office" and "No, you can't try a Republican POTUS after he is no longer in office". And, this smelly rotten "principle" should be hung around the neck of EVERY shameless fool who chooses to seek elective office under the Republican banner!

I warn one and all not to ever urge me to "seek common ground" with one of these soulless goons unless they are sure they are beyond spitting range from me!
