(3,410 posts)He's that egotistical. "If I'm not running it, it can't exist". But we survived 4 years of that idiot in charge...this country is stronger than I think a lot of us thought. When he first got in, I told my best friend not to worry, the shit he wanted to do was illegal and our Constitution will hold. After the Republicans started to bow and scrape to him as opposed to doing their damn jobs, I began to worry.
Whoever or whatever you want to credit it to, we held. He'll never be "President for Life" like he wanted. He's gone in 26 days. It's not going to be easy road, but we'll climb back. I'm 72, and I've NEVER seen dancing in the streets and our European allies ringing church bells after an American election. I was with friends that Saturday when it was finally called. Again, never danced in the living room & cracked a bottle of champagne over an election before. Biden is a GOOD man, with amazing experience. The biggest issue we'll face is that we've proven that no matter how decent, smart, and honorable our current president is, we're never more than 4 years away from putting a lunatic in charge. And then sitting back and letting him or her run roughshod over everything we supposedly believe in.
Welcome to DU...this place was the only thing that kept a lot of us sane for the last 4 years. You'll find amazingly well informed people here...if you read it here, you can pretty much take it to the bank. You won't see photoshopped "evidence" or idiotic rumors.
Good to have you with us, and enjoy!
