(4,510 posts)143. Yes that's true but I never could wrap my head around their feud.
To me it seemed like Teddy was upset at Carter for not being liberal enough even though he was pretty much our first green energy president, the last president to ask the American people to sacrifice, and he spoke openly about legalizing pot. I think alot of it was sour grapes on Teddy's part with him not really wanting to be president so much as him not wanting Carter to have the job either. I always wondered why Ted never ran in 1976 or 1984 when the field was more clear for him to win. The run in 1980 just seemed so spiteful to me. Then there was their convention awkwardness and Ted not wanting to shake hands. So I guess you can tell I sided more with Jimmy when it came to the whole situation.
