3. PM Orban in Hungary says his goal is an "illiberal state"

And so in this sense the new state that we are constructing in Hungary is an illiberal state, a non-liberal state.
...
When I mention the European Union, I do so not because I believe that it is impossible to construct a new state built on illiberal and national foundations within the European Union.

Orban said the European parliamentary vote must prove that there was an alternative to liberal democracy, which he said worked in undemocratic ways in Western Europe by being intolerant of alternative views.

“Christian democracy is not liberal...It is illiberal, if you like,” Orban said.

Unlike liberal democracy, he said, Christian democracy rejects multiculturalism and immigration while being anti-communist and standing for Christian values.

So don't get your hopes up; many of them will take that label willingly. They'll ignore the definition marked 'archaic', fairly reasonably, as we don't use 'liberal' to mean "generous with money" any more (read, for instance, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire for that usage). They are happy to say they're not "broad-minded"; they're happy to say their way of thinking has only ever been the 'right' way, though they won't agree that's "bigoted". They oppose liberalism.
