Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy, went after President Donald Trumps executive order declassifying files on the 1963 assassination of the former president.
JFK conspiracy theories, Schlossberg wrote in a social post to his X account hours after Trump signed the order in the Oval Office Thursday.
The truth is alot sadder than the myth a tragedy that didnt need to happen. Not part of an inevitable grand scheme. Declassification is using JFK as a political prop, when hes not here to punch back.
Trump, the subject of two of his own assassination attempts last year, had vowed on the campaign trail to release all documents on the Dallas incident that has long been the subject of fascination both for historians and conspiracy theorists.
He told reporters as he signed the order Thursday: "A lot of people have been waiting for this for years, for decades, before adding "Everything will be revealed."

(30,102 posts)I don't trust Trump anymore than anymore than anyone else here, but that has nothing to do with the actual contents of the documents.

(33,421 posts)produced by the government involved would be highly questionable. Who recently did a podcast of the JFK assassination? Was it Rob Reiner? There's no one alive who can dispute what is written in reports.

(30,102 posts)that there is "no one alive who can dispute the reports". Either way, Americans, especially those of us who remember the event and were traumatized by it, have a right to know what the documents hold...We'll come to our own conclusions regarding their veracity.

(33,421 posts)false reality is based on conclusions not based in fact. I'm sure J.Edgar wrote a good story. Oh yes...I remember the day, and the days that followed. I happened to be in Catholic school. Were you implying that I was ignorant about the whole saga?

(30,102 posts)and explain to us what you view as the "false reality"
PLEASE don't tell me you believe the Warren report, especially if you're old enough to remember the assassination.

(33,421 posts)the bullshit being spewed on a daily basis from every news organization in this country. I view "false reality" as what the Republican citizenry see as fact. If I am old enough? Go attack someone else, I'm busy. Watch Rob Reiner's podcast.

(30,102 posts)As for the rest, we were talking about the Kennedy assassination, not something as unspecified as "whatever the Republicans see as fact", so that seems a non- response. I'm also not understanding how, in this context, a reference to your age might be construed as an "attack", especially since its something you'd already mentioned.
Honestly, you seem a bit too stressed for this discussion now..I think most of us quite stressed by what's going on now, so maybe we should all just chill and try to have a decent afternoon..
