No One Has Ever Been Dangerous to America as Trump - Thom Hartmann

Germany didn't realize how dangerously close they were to dictatorship until it was too late. It can happen here.

We’ve been sliding down a slippery slope toward unaccountable fascism for several decades, and this year we stand at the threshold of an entirely new form of American government that could mean the end of the American experiment.

To the extent that our Constitution is still intact, the choice for our democracy to survive or fall is in our hands.

The Nazis (Hitler's Storm Troopers) purposely provoked and started fights in the streets with socialists, communists, and trade unionists. It started with ex-veterans from WWI who were humiliated by their defeat, lack of employment, and lack of purpose. The Weimar Republic was mostly helpless in stopping these public riots.

Hitler rose as a politician, mostly through the media, and promised to end the violence. What he meant was that he would remove and imprison his opponents. Some of the first to go to detention camps were his political opponents (if they weren't killed outright).

I've read in a lot of books of Germany during the first years of Naziism that ordinary Germans didn't realize what was happening because it didn't involve them. They were happy that there was work again, they could feed their families, Party Members were treated with deference, etc. If their neighbors disappeared in the middle of the night, oh well . . . . . It wasn't them. It wasn't like everything changed in one day. As the title of Milton Mayer's book said, "They Thought They Were Free". https://www.amazon.com/They-Thought-Were-Free-Germans/dp/0226511928

So, when Thom Hartmann gives us the cry of The Sentinel, LISTEN!! It isn't paranoia if it's true.
