7. We have more coyotes in our towns and suburbs than in our deserts these days.

I grew up in Long Beach, we always had coyotes.

We are now in a large retirement community inland from Laguna Beach. We hear them at night and see them during the day. They fairly regularly attack little dogs as residents walk them. Many of the dog walkers carry sticks or golf clubs to protect their pets.

The coyotes were here first.
