Michigan newspaper issues correction after Trump claims he won man of year award (The Hill)

A Michigan newspaper issued a correction after former President Trump cited the paper at a speech in Detroit, claiming he was Michigan’s “Man of the Year” in 2023.

The former president pulled out a printout of the article from The Oakland Press during his address to the Detroit Economic Club on Thursday. Shortly after the speech, the newspaper released a correction to the article, clarifying Trump was never named “Man of the Year.”

The group has never given out “Man of the Year” awards, the Post reported. At the 2013 Lincoln Day Dinner hosted by the Oakland County Republican Party, he was presented with a statuette of Abraham Lincoln.
