Related: About this forumSo why does your prescription cost more than a luxury handbag? Corporate greed. - From Senator Bernie Sanders
September 22, 2024
I can identify with this, just got a new prescription (inhaler) from the ENT for my sinus condition since the script I've been using wasn't doing much. However, this new prescription would have cost me almost $700 a month. So I called the ENT and she recommended another - which would have cost only about $20 less, so she said to just stick with the original script which was helping me breathe - but only a little.
When I went to pick up my refill, I was told that the original script had gone from $94 to $178. And they had already filled the second new more expensive prescription that the ENT had called in. So I had a choice. The woman at the pharmacy said to see what she could do. And when I came back, she told me that she'd found a coupon online for the new prescription which would cost me nothing - so I had a choice, the original at $178 a month or the new one which would now cost me nothing - which actually does work better.
I'm lucky that I have managed $94 a month - and that those at the pharmacy made a real effort to help me out. The cost of these prescriptions have to be out of reach of many people.

Good point, the prices I quoted were using the Good Rx card I received from my doctor.

sunglasses and shit are made at the same place as cheaper versions. Same quality but the fancy logo is just simple finishing work. People pay a fortune for just average stuff.

How is it through my company retirement plan and Medicare I pay more for some prescriptions than using goodrx or a coupon from the company. I do get 3 month refills so to me just doing that should make it cheaper. Buy in bulk right? Have insurance/medicare should be cheaper. But nope.
